Newsfender chooses Barcelona to set up its global production site

The U.S. company specializes in manufacturing sustainable 3D-printed fenders for ships.
The American company Newsfender has set up its global production center in Barcelona. The company has chosen the DFactory Barcelona facilities, promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), where it will develop its sustainable fenders for boats that it has patented and manufactures with 3D printing.
The attractiveness of DFactory Barcelona as an industry 4.0 ecosystem of international reference, coupled with Barcelona's commitment to the nautical sector, which is reflected these days with the celebration of the America's Cup, have led Newsfender to set up its global production center in the Catalan capital.
The CEO of Newsfender, Vensan S. Buzuk, stated, "For our company and our team, this is a significant step forward for our international expansion. We have expanded the base to supply this product to European countries from a nearby location".
"We visited several countries to evaluate different location options, and DFactory was by far the best option in every way." Buzuk added, "The decision was easy because from the beginning, we knew it was the right place, and in this way, we also reduced the pollution we generated by transporting our products and materials from America to Europe."
Newsfender produces customized, eco-friendly, state-of-the-art boat fenders specifically designed for shipyards, boat builders, dinghy builders, RIB boat builders, military patrol boats, coast guard patrol boats, police boats, and rescue boats.
Another outstanding feature of these patented boat fenders is that they are made of environmentally friendly materials, ensuring minimal impact on aquatic life. Newsfender fenders are strong enough to withstand adverse weather conditions and prolonged exposure to the sun without losing efficiency. The company is also developing other patents that will soon see the light of day in the market.
Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), stressed that "it is great news that Newsfender has installed its global production center in DFactory Barcelona because it consolidates us as the great industry 4.0 ecosystem of global reference. At the same time it reaffirms our goal of continuing to promote collaboration between companies, open innovation, and technological disruption thanks to specialized talent, and that will lead us to develop a second phase that will position us as the world capital of this new way of producing more, better and closer".
DFactory Barcelona, an ecosystem in constant growth
The DFactory Barcelona has a 17,000m2 facility, where more than 30 companies have already set up shop and around 500 people work.
The DFactory Barcelona continues to meet the goal of becoming the factory of the future, promoting and developing Industry 4.0, new talent, and new technologies and investments in an unparalleled space. In this environment, technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, cybersecurity and blockchain, artificial intelligence, or sensors give rise to a new way of producing, much more sustainable, generating synergies between companies and providing the possibility of establishing alliances with the rest of the organizations present in the building.
In addition, the second phase of the construction of the building will begin this year, reaching nearly 100,000 m2 in the future. It will employ 1,500 people directly and 5,000 indirectly.
