Columbia grain to enter spanish market

American grain exporter columbia grain has set up a subsidiary in barcelona specialized in wheat imports from the u.s. and canada. the company, a unit of japanese conglomerate marubeni, plans to import 150,000 tonnes of wheat each year aimed at spanish flour producers.
columbia grain entered the spanish market after it acquired the assets of agp grain, already operating in spain. columbia’s leading ports of operation in spain include barcelona, tarragona, santander and malaga. in 2007, marubeni group posted revenue of 1.18 billion euros.
