The catalan government and barcelona city council have presented the barcelona economic triangle (bet), a strategic development project aimed at consolidating catalonia's position as a mediterranean center for innovation. the official presentation took place in cannes, france, at the mipim fair, the world’s leading meeting for real estate investors.
created in november 2009, the bet project provides about two million square meters of offices, research facilities and housing around barcelona and neighboring areas. bet's three main development poles are besòs and the 22@ technological district; the llobregat's deltabcn, and the vallès region, which houses the alba synchrotron for scientific research.
the bet has been carried out through an innovative partnership between the public sector and private companies.
