Catalonia, a european leader in policies favoring smes

Catalonia has received the first european entrepreneurial region award (eer) for promoting and developing the best strategic policies supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (smes). the distinction was awarded by the committee of the regions of the european union. catalonia was selected from a total of 35 candidate regions, including flanders, lombardy, emilia romagna and madrid. the jury decided to recognize catalonia's implementation plan of the small business act (2010-2013).

"this award helps to improve catalonia's international image, to attract new investments and to contribute to the creation of more and better jobs," catalan minister josep huguet said from brussels.
