Catalan optic and photonics cluster draws sector benchmark congress to barcelona

Secpho, the south european optic and photonics cluster based in terrassa, which has currently some 50 partners, managed to attract the leading international sector congress; that of the spie optical systems design 2012, held in barcelona from 26th – 29th november.

the eu has classified photonics as one of the five main enabling technologies called to play a key role in european industrial development this century. the sector in spain is currently turning over €1.4 billion, while providing nearly 7,500 jobs.
