Catalan fashion company Mango has announced it plans to expand its 190,000sqm logistic center in Barcelona. This logistic hub will reach 280,000sqm in 2023, thus becoming the brand’s biggest one. The expansion will require an investment of 35M€.
The logistic center became fully operational a few months ago, after a total investment of 230M€ in different stages. Mango currently has the capacity to store 20 million pieces of clothing in boxes and 7 million more hanging on racks. The firm manages 75,000 pieces per hour in this center, where some 600 people currently work. In fact, the multinational centralises and distributes products to the 2,100 stores it has around the world from this warehouse.
The aim of this expansion is for the company to manage its growth in e-commerce, which nowadays represents 20% of Mango’s turnover. The firm expects this figure to reach 30% in 2020. According to Mango’s general manager, Toni Ruiz, this facility has enabled the company to reduce logistic costs by 25% and will lead the firm’s growth strategy.
