German pharmaceutical company Bayer will hire 100 new employees in Barcelona this year with the aim of strengthening its Service Center Barcelona (SCB) as a center of excellence. These facilities will now be responsible for the coordination of the company’s global Supply Chain Management activities.
The center, which currently has a team of 600 people, covers 11 countries in the EMEA region and is already developing projects to improve sustainability and reduce the company’s carbon footprint in all supply chain-related activities. Bayer invested 1 million euros in this center in 2019.
According to Bayer SCB’s director, Marc Ferré Hausmann, this expansion project will allow the company “to continue contributing from Barcelona to the world in the transformation and digitalization of Bayer and respond to the needs of the population in two key areas such as health and nutrition”. The pharmaceutical company opened this center of excellence in Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona) 20 years ago.
