Barcelona to host un’s institute for the alliance of civilizations

One of the buildings of Barcelona’s Sant Pau Hospital is to be home to the new UN International Institute for the Alliance of Civilizations, expected to open by 2012. This is the tenth center of its kind promoted by the United Nations and the first in the Mediterranean area. The new International Institute will receive an investment of 2 million Euros by 2012. The new 2,300 square-meter center is to have about 250 professors and students researching on education systems, immigration and media issues. The Institute will also organize postgraduate programs in Social Sciences and Humanities.
