Barcelona, ranked 8th Best City in the World

Barcelona has been ranked as the 8th Best City in the World for 2024, according to Resonance Consulting. The World’s Best Cities Report 2024, published today, is a ranking of the Top 100 metropolitan areas using a combination of core statistics and qualitative ratings and recommendations by locals and visitors in digital channels. The publication is the result of an analysis of more than 270 global cities.

According to the report, the Catalan capital is “as coveted as ever”. The study highlights that Barcelona “is aggressively securing massive foreign investment”, noting that many renowned companies have chosen Barcelona as the location for their global or European centers. The report mentions the recent announcement by the largest airline group in Europe, Lufthansa Group, to open its first Southern European digital hub in Barcelona, as well as the US company Panattoni, which will invest €300 million to build the largest data center in Catalonia. As a result, the city has become the most important technology and digital hub in Southern Europe.

Top 10 in Livability and Lovability

The World’s Best Cities Report 2024 highlights that Barcelona is one of the very few cities to rank in the Top 10 in both the Livability category (10th) and the Lovability index (7th). According to the report, Barcelona “has near-perfect weather year-round, more than three miles of golden sandy beaches within city limits, iconic parks, striking architecture and diverse, era-spanning neighborhoods”.

Barcelona, 3rd Best City in Europe

Barcelona is the third Best City in Europe in this ranking, behind London and Paris and ahead of cities such as Amsterdam, Rome, Prague, Madrid and Berlin.

Resonance Consulting’s methodology is based on three key factors—Livability, Lovability and Prosperity—to determine each city's score. The key factors are grouped into 24 categories. Based on each city's performance in the 24 categories analyzed, these are the Top 10 World's Best Cities for 2024:
