
Alstom to build 57 carriages for Panama underground in Santa Perpètua

Alstom has received an order to build the 57 carriages to supply the first subway line of panama city. they are due to be manufactured in the firm’s plant and coachworks in santa perpètua de mogoda (barcelona).
the french multinational heads a consortium of electro-mechanical equipment makers for this new underground line, and will be responsible not only for the coach building, but also engineering work, coordination and finally bringing the line into service – to include building the sub-stations needed to power the line and signalling systems too.
the contract, with an estimated value of €200m, is a further boost to the firm following the awarding of a tender to supply the santo domingo underground with 45 carriages which will run on the dominican capital’s second line when completed.
