Accenture opens Agentic AI Innovation Hub in Barcelona

The new hub brings together companies, public administrations, academia, startups and technology partners to develop and scale agentic AI solutions.
Accenture has inaugurated its Agentic AI Innovation Hub in Barcelona, a new space focused on helping organizations explore, develop and scale applications of agentic artificial intelligence.
Launched in June, the hub brings together Accenture professionals with local and international companies, public administrations, academic institutions, startups and technology partners to co-innovate around agentic AI and accelerate its adoption across organizations.
The initiative forms part of Accenture's Barcelona Innovation Center at La Rotonda and reinforces the city's growing role as a hub for artificial intelligence, advanced technology and digital innovation.
Moving agentic AI from experimentation to adoption
The Agentic AI Innovation Hub is designed to help organizations move beyond experimentation and integrate AI agents into their core operations.
Work at the hub will address different aspects of this transformation, including redesigning business processes, developing and securely deploying agentic AI platforms, establishing responsible AI governance, training talent and defining new ways of working.
The hub will also develop and scale solutions combining agentic AI with Accenture's technology assets for business reinvention, working alongside technology partners, startups and academic institutions.
According to Accenture's The Age of Co-Intelligence report, more than 50% of working hours are expected to be impacted by AI agents. Meanwhile, the company's latest Pulse of Change research indicates that 84% of business leaders in Spain are increasing their investment in AI, while almost half of companies are already piloting or deploying AI agents.
A collaborative AI ecosystem in Barcelona
The inauguration brought together representatives from the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council, as well as CEOs and executives from major companies, technology companies, academic institutions and organizations from Catalonia's innovation ecosystem.
Albert Tort, Secretary for Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Government of Catalonia, officially closed the inauguration alongside Nadia Quevedo, Commissioner for Employment and Commerce of Barcelona City Council, and Mercedes Oblanca, President and CEO of Accenture Spain and Portugal.
Oblanca highlighted the company's long-term commitment to Barcelona as a hub for innovation and advanced technology, pointing to the city's ability to attract talent and industrial investment while supporting the transformation of companies and public institutions.
“Agentic AI is already generating real impact across all sectors, and we need to accelerate this transformation responsibly, with concrete, secure and scalable solutions that combine technology, talent, knowledge and human judgement to create economic, social and environmental value,” said Mercedes Oblanca.
She added that the Hub in Barcelona reflects Accenture’s “long-term commitment to the city” as a hub for innovation and advanced technology, helping to drive talent, attract industrial investment and transform companies and public institutions. “From Barcelona, we connect an extraordinary ecosystem of talent, innovation and public-private collaboration with our innovation network across Spain and our global capabilities”, she said.
The Barcelona hub reflects the growing shift from AI experimentation towards large-scale adoption, creating new opportunities for collaboration between international technology companies and Catalonia's business, research and innovation ecosystem.
Barcelona, a growing hub for artificial intelligence
Accenture's new initiative adds to Barcelona's expanding AI ecosystem, which brings together international companies, startups, research institutions and technology talent.
Barcelona is already attracting significant international investment in artificial intelligence. According to the 2026 IBM Global Location Trends report, Barcelona ranks first in Europe and third worldwide for foreign investment projects in AI.
Catalonia is also home to a growing community of AI companies and research capabilities, including the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), strengthening the region's position as a location for companies developing and adopting advanced AI technologies.
For international companies, Catalonia offers access to AI talent, research infrastructure, startups, technology partners and a dynamic innovation ecosystem, creating opportunities to develop, test and scale new AI solutions.
