ABB Robotics to establish new technology and operations hub in Catalonia

ABB Robotics has announced plans to establish a new technology and operations hub in Catalonia, selecting the city of Sabadell, near Barcelona, as the location for its new 15,000-square-meter facility.

The new site will bring together ABB Robotics' engineering, customer experience, training, service and operations activities, further strengthening Catalonia's role as a strategic hub for advanced robotics.

ABB Robotics announced its plans to develop a new 15,000 square meter technology and operations hub in Sabadell, Spain. The site will bring together ABB Robotics’ engineering, customer experience, training, service, and operations activities to further strengthen Spain’s role as a strategic hub for advanced robotics.  
 
The new site is located close to ABB Robotics’ current facility in Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona), and will unite all functions under one roof to improve collaboration between teams, accelerating innovation, and strengthening proximity to customers and partners.  

According to the company, Sabadell was selected thanks to its strategic location and excellent transport connectivity, including direct access to the C-58 and AP-7 motorways. The city’s close proximity to universities and technology centers, accessibility, and strong public transport connections make it well suited to ABB Robotics’ new facility.  

The project also builds on ABB's long-standing industrial presence in the city, where the company played a significant role in the local economy for decades.

Earlier this month, ABB Robotics also announced a global collaboration with Roche Diagnostics to develop new robotic solutions for clinical laboratories. The partnership aims to accelerate laboratory automation by bringing physical AI and autonomous robotics to healthcare environments, supporting greater efficiency and flexibility in diagnostic testing.
