Barcelona-based Kompyte was founded in 2014 with a new market idea: a software tool that would monitor the competitor’s online activity in real-time. The startup quickly saw how their product enjoyed great success in the United States, so the founders decided to move to Austin (TX).
In March 2022, the online marketing expert Semrush acquired Kompyte. Headquartered in Boston and registered at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Semrush is now planning to open a new hub in Barcelona and make the business grow in Europe.
Watch the interview with Kompyte’s founders, Pere Codina and Albert Colmenero. You can also learn more about Catalonia’s strong ecosystem of over 1,900 startups at the Barcelona and Catalonia Startup Hub.
