Siemens has launched its new innovation center in Cornellà (Barcelona). The 500sqm-facility is aimed at developing digital solutions for the energy sector using Mindsphere, the company's cloud platform. Siemens’ goal is to encourage collaboration between the different actors of the energy sector, including companies, universities and startups in the south of Europe. It also provides an environment that’s equipped with state-of-the-art technology where they can work together to create new business models and implement digital solutions to offer an added value to the customer. The hub brings together a team of experts, including software engineers, data scientists and other technology professionals.
Siemens has chosen Barcelona as the headquarters for its new center because “it is one of the largest hubs for innovation and startups in Europe”, according to the company. Siemens also highlights the city’s “broad ecosystem of startups, first-class R&D laboratories, international clients and the ability to attract regional and international talent”.
The Siemens hub in Barcelona is one of the 22 Mindsphere innovation centers the company has worldwide, including one located in Shanghai, the recently opened in Berlin or Orlando (USA), with a global team of over 24,000 professionals.
