
More than 19 million foreign tourists visited Catalonia in 2018

19,123,200 tourists visited Catalonia in 2018, slightly higher than the number for the previous year. This way, Catalonia continued to be the most popular destination for foreign visitors to Spain, as it accounted for 23.1% of all visits, followed by the Balearic Islands (16.7%) and then the Canary Islands (16.6%).
The figures from the National Statistics Institute also show that Catalonia is the destination where foreign visitors spent the most, 20.6 million euros, and the average spending was 1,078 euros, 7.2% more. The average daily spending per person amounts to 185 euros, an increase of 9.7%.
Foreign visitors who spent the most were the British, with 17.7 million euros (up 2.8%), followed by 12 million spent by Germans and then the French, at 7.3 million euros (4.7% more).
