Catalan startups delegation participates in entrepreneurs’ reference event The Next Web in Amsterdam

• Over 17,000 entrepreneurs, investors and technological corporations from all over the world attend the congress, which includes the participation of companies like Google, Booking, Ford and WeTransfer.

A top 8 Catalan-startup delegation has travelled to Amsterdam to take part in The Next Web, the entrepreneurs’ reference fair in Europe, as part of a mission organized by Catalonia Trade & Investment –the Catalan Government agency for business competitiveness– through its exterior office in Amsterdam. With their participation, the Catalan startups aim to gain visibility and connect to the European entrepreneur’s ecosystem to find partners and investment.

The selected emergent companies present their projects before over 17,000 attendants among entrepreneurs, investors and potential partners or clients between today and tomorrow. At this year’s edition, The Next Web will include speeches by worldwide-relevant corporations’ directors and technological developers like Sandy Fershee (Ford Motor Company), Jonathan Rochelle (Google), Gillian Tans (Booking) and Gordon Willoughby (WeTransfer).

The Catalan startups attending the congress are bnc10, BusUp, Elma, Stayforlong, Socourt, StockCrowd, TeamEQ and Venvirotech Biotechnology, which belong to sectors like sports, travel, fintech or human resources, among others. The Next Web and Catalonia Trade & Investment have collaborated to lend them along-assessment to select and review their pitches.

Over 1,300 startups in Catalonia

The directory Barcelona & Catalonia Startup Hub, elaborated by Catalonia Trade & Investment, has identified over 1,300 Catalan startups which create around 14,000 jobs. In fact, Catalonia Trade & Investment works through three strategical core subjects for startups: acceleration, the international connection to other advanced ecosystems and the promotion of Catalonia as an international startups’ hub.
