This initiative, promoted by the Semiconductors and Chips Alliance of Catalonia, aims to consolidate Catalonia as one of the reference hubs of the semiconductor industry in Europe.

Catalonia has solidified its technological strength, boasting a digitization index of 63.96%, nearly 12 points higher than the EU average and 1.6 points above its 2021 standing.

According to ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, companies from the United States, France, and the United Kingdom stand out in ICT, electronics, audiovisual, health products, and R&D sectors.

According to an ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment report, these companies employ 2,340 people (35% more than last year) and have a turnover of 161 million euros (+30%).

This initiative falls within the collaborative agreement between ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment and the America's Cup, ensuring both the competition's technological and industrial impact and its legacy in Catalonia.

HP, which already has 2,500 employees in Sant Cugat (Barcelona), located the new facilities in Catalonia due to “the existence of international design talent and Barcelona´s capacity to attract it” and because the Catalan headquarters “is one of the company’s most significant worldwide”.

The US company's new centerwill provide exceptional support to its European clients and global customer base through a team with expertise in technical support, software engineering, healthcare IT, and biotechnology.

The company has invested 12 million euros and will create up to 100 highly skilled jobs to set up this 500 m² facility close to Barcelona, which will test and produce a small microchip series designed by the company over the last seven years.

The 22@ district is known for its strong ties to innovation and is home to many technology companies.
