Automobile Barcelona's 2023 edition will exhibit the latest releases from top car brands, reassuring its status as the European benchmark event in the automotive sector.

Automobile Barcelona's new edition, the International Motor Show organized by Fira de Barcelona, will showcase the largest display of zero and low-emission models of electrified cars. From 13 to May 21st at the Fira Barcelona, Montjuïc venue, this year's edition will exhibit the latest releases from top car brands.

The show's 2023 edition has received the support of the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, and ACCIÓ–Catalonia Trade & Investment. Furthermore, the Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC) has confirmed the show's attendance of brand leaders in electromobility, such as Hyundai, KIA, Lexus, Mazda, Maxus, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Renault, Seat, Ssangyong, Suzuki, Tesla, Volvo, as well as Seat Mo, Silence, Verge, and Wallbox, among others.

Enrique Lacalle, president of Automobile Barcelona, pointed out that "this year, the show will once again reaffirm its status as the European benchmark event in the automotive sector, bringing together more brands than in 2021 and bringing the most advanced models of electric and hybrid vehicles to the public". Lacalle highlighted "the effort made by the automotive industry to adapt to present and future demands" and assured that, in this sense, "Automobile Barcelona will once again be the best platform and showcase to support the industry and boost sales."

“Having a world reference event like the Automobile Barcelona is a unique opportunity to consolidate, bring closer, and show society the advantages of sustainability”

José López, ANFAC General Director General

José López, Director General of ANFAC, the association of car manufacturers, said that "progress towards zero-emission mobility is a full commitment on the part of all car manufacturers, and the electrified vehicle is the main tool right now. Therefore, having a world reference event like the Automobile Barcelona is a unique opportunity to consolidate, bring closer, and show society the advantages of sustainability and road safety the electrified vehicle offers. Now is the time to move towards change."

The passenger car and SUV market grew 19.2% compared to the same period in 2022, with 74,001 new units registered. In addition, February has been the second consecutive month this year with increases. As a result, the cumulative total in 2023 is 138,039 units, 32.1% more than the previous year but 24% lower than the pre-pandemic period. In 2022, registrations fell by 5.4%, with 813,396 vehicles sold.

Automobile Barcelona's 2023 edition will go under the slogan 'Electrifying,' aiming to contribute to the growth of electric and electrified vehicles, which are becoming increasingly more accessible and diversified. At the event, the Electric Zone will showcase the most advanced electric models designed by the participating brands. In addition, ANFAC will organize a congress with a theme based on the transition to sustainable mobility for industry, cities, and society.

Visitors will also be able to experience the cars showcased by the exhibiting brands at the traditional "boxes," driving the new electrified models around the Montjuïc circuit and testing their latest innovations first-hand.
