the catalan government opens a technological antenna in boston to boost the internationalisation of catalan innovation and technology

the catalan government has opened a technological antenna in boston (massachusetts) aimed at promoting collaboration between catalan and american companies in r&d and innovation. this antenna joins the government’s network of trade & investment offices abroad; it now has 35 offices, 20 involved in developing international innovation and entrepreneurship. 

located in the cambridge innovation centre, the antenna will support the activity of the trade & investment new york office. it will seek out american companies interested in r&d projects with catalan companies, while also identifying innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities for companies from catalonia, organizing missions of catalan companies in the area and encouraging the mobility of catalan researchers in american technology and research centres. it will also identify international support programmes for innovation and promote activities to encourage bilateral cooperation between the state of massachusetts and catalonia. 

the antenna will focus mainly on the areas of advanced manufacturing, environmental technologies, biotechnology and ict. it will work to establish partnerships with the massachusetts institute of technology (mit) and with incubators and accelerators of international companies located in the region. 

in the words of the ceo of accio, nuria betriu, establishing this antenna "is a step forward in promoting the internationalization of catalan innovation and entrepreneurship. we want to strengthen our presence in a state that has one of the world’s most advanced industries and a rich innovative ecosystem. it is an area with a high concentration of internationally renowned universities such as harvard or mit, home to one of the world's most leading medical and biotechnological clusters, and first-class technology centres specialized in ict, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing, among others."
