The Catalan presence at the Mobile World Congress consolidates itself with over 100 companies having a stand in 2018

15 Feb 2018

Catalonia Trade and the Mobile World Capital Barcelona consolidate in 2018 the roadmap in the MWC for non-ICT professionals with the objective of expanding the impact of the Mobile World Congress on the entire productive fabric, an initiative which began last year. Thus, within the framework of the GoingDigital programme, 150 top executive of Catalan companies that are not part of the ICT sector will be able to identify the opportunities that mobile technologies could bring to their businesses in the current context of digital transformation.

These are companies from many different sectors – food, fashion, packaging, cosmetics, furniture, and so on – which will be divided into three groups according to their interests: industry 4.0, retail and future vehicles. Before the MWC they will attend specialized thematic workshops to analyse the technological trends within these sectors, while during the congress itself they will participate in organized visits to get to know first-hand the technologies presented by international exhibitors and that can be adopted to allow them to become more competitive. Furthermore, during the Mobile World Congress, companies can participate in the Brokerage Event to meet with companies in the ICT sector and find commercial and technological partners.

Besides the General Secretary of the Department of Business and Knowledge, Pau Villoria, who was accompanied by the Secretary of Telecommunications, Cybersecurity and Digital Society, Jordi Puigneró, the press conference today was also attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, the Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda, José María Lassalle, the General Manager of Fira de Barcelona, Constantí Serrallonga, and the CEO of the Mobile World Capital, Carlos Grau.
