Catalan Economy
13 Apr 2011
The bip (barcelona institute of packaging), modelled on the zurich based ipi and to a large degree inspired by such centres as the michigan school of packaging or the more recent asian packaging center in china, is the brainchild of two key players in the catalan packaging industry.
both entities have over one hundred years of experience to contribute to the initiative. the iqs, (university centre for entrepreneurs) is a higher educational benchmark and renowned for its services to the business community, while the centro tecnológico leitat has put its machinery, facilities and know how at the disposal of both enterprise and industrial innovation entities.
with such a pedigree, it is clear that the barcelona institute of packaging has come into being with the full support of the packaging value chain, from drawing board to product engineering, aiming to become a reference point, a link and a centre collaborating with the entire sector on r+d+i projects, especially providing smes help to develop their full potential.
the bip is backed by the local business community, professional bodies and the catalan government through ongoing collaboration and coordination with acc1ó.
