Chinese Jade Bird to establish first European headquarters in Barcelona

• The multinational company, with over 2,000 employees and headquartered in Beijing, specializes in the production of fire alarms for hospitals, factories and shops.

The Chinese group Jade Bird Universal Fire Alarm, specializing in the production of fire alarm systems, has established its first European headquarters in Barcelona. The company will create up to 15 new jobs in 2019 with the opening of these offices in the Catalan capital, which will have an area of 250m². From the new headquarters in Barcelona, Jade Bird will manage its business in Europe, from engineering to the commercialization of its products.

This project is supported by Catalonia Trade & Investment, the Government’s agency for business competitiveness. The company focuses on the design, installation and service of protection systems for sectors such as hospitals, industrial facilities, retail or office spaces. These systems include smoke and heat detectors, manual alarm points and control modules adapted to the regulations and needs of the European market.

According to Brian J. Stumm, vice president and general manager of Jade Bird Fire Alarm International (Europe), when the company decided to expand into Europe, they were looking for "a city that would provide a solid foundation to the business for the long term". "We chose Barcelona as our headquarters based on the logistics available, access to the markets and superb technical community", he emphasizes.

The new jobs the Chinese multinational company will create in Barcelona in 2019 are profiles such as engineering, technical support, marketing, sales and administrative roles. "As we grow in the future, we expect to add to this number to support our customers both locally and across Europe", Stumm says. Jade Bird Universal Fire Alarm, headquartered in Beijing, has more than 10 offices and more than 2,000 workers worldwide.

The project is supported by Catalonia Trade & Investment, which is dedicated to foreign investment attraction. The agency operates from Barcelona alongside a network of 40 foreign trade and investment offices around the world, aiming to attract new foreign investment projects to Catalonia.
