Catalonia creates 18.6% more companies in 2016 and hits the highest figure in 9 years

04 Jan 2017

In the words of the Director General for Industry and the CEO of Catalonia Trade & Investment, Núria Betriu, “this is the highest number of companies being created in 9 years: a sign that the Catalan business community, both entrepreneurial and dynamic, has faith in the Catalan economy and in its competitiveness”. She adds, “every year Catalan companies export more and invest more in innovation and R&D, while industrial activity speeds up and more jobs are created at the same time”. The Director General of Industry assures that “the foundations of a solid economic recovery based on added value are being built” which is thanks to a commitment to “industry and the mix of internationalisation and innovation”. Betriu also emphasised that not only have more companies been created but also fewer have been dismantled: precisely 2,308 companies, 9.4% less than 2015.
