
Catalan exports grow by 2.9% in first half of 2018, the best on record

Catalan exports grew by 2.9% in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year and reached 36,659 million euros. This is the highest export volume on record during a first half-year, a figure that represents 25.3% of Spain’s total exports.
As regards sectors, according to data from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, in the January-June period, the automotive (+15%, 6,446 million euros), chemistry (+2.9%, 9,600 million euros) and equipment (+1.2%, 6,342 million euros) sectors drove most of the Catalan sales abroad.
The latest published data refers to June. During this month, exports grew by 0.9% compared to the same month of 2017 and reached 6.191 million euros, the highest figure on record for the month of June.
