The Port of Barcelona has initiated 17 measures to outline the future citizen port.

Toyota Material Handling Spain, the logistics subsidiary of the Japanese automotive company, has laid the foundation stone for its new headquarters in Sabadell (Barcelona).

German chemical company BASF will build a new international engineering hub based in La Canonja plant (Tarragona) and in Madrid. The sites will operate projects at a European level.

The new site will serve as a strategic connection point for data communications between Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, with Barcelona quickly becoming a vital subsea hub.

A total of 229 investment projects were announced (+11% year-on-year), which will create 19,500 jobs (16% more).

Catalonia is one of the 13 regions promoting the "Alliance of European Semiconductor Regions", an initiative to encourage the growth and competitiveness of the semiconductor industry in Europe.

The largest and most important connectivity event in the world, Mobile World Congress 2023, ended yesterday with more than 88,500 attendees, 56% of whom were from industries related to the mobile ecosystem.

According to ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, there are currently more than 22,000 Catalan companies in this sector, with a €30,240 million revenue (+2.5% year-on-year) and 182,800 jobs generated (+1.4%).

This 6,000 m² space in Barcelona can accommodate 500 professionals from startups, large companies, research centers, hospitals, universities, and the administration.
