  • Papernest’s investment in Catalonia is being supported by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment
  • The Minister of Business and Labor, Roger Torrent, and papernest ’s CEO and co-founder, Philippe de la Chevasnerie, opened the new facilities on Wednesday

The French tech firm papernest has opened new offices in Barcelona while also announcing the creation of some 200 to 300 new jobs by 2023.

With this investment the company – which enables clients to centralize and simplify the management of all their subscriptions and contracts – will then rise to a workforce of some 900 people in the Catalan capital, where it set up in 2018.

In fact, Barcelona has become the company's most important headquarters, ahead of Paris and Reims, and operates as its main strategic hub in the European market.

The opening ceremony of papernest’s offices was attended by the Minister of Business and Labor, Roger Torrent, who was accompanied by the firm’s CEO and co-founder, Philippe de la Chevasnerie.

The investment of papernest in Catalonia received the support of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the agency for the business competitiveness belonging to the Ministry of Business and Labor.

For Minister Torrent, Papernest’s growth in Barcelona clearly demonstrates that "Barcelona is an attractive city as a technological capital that generates the necessary environment for companies like these to grow".

Along these lines, he added, "This is great news both from a quantitative point of view for the creation of a thousand jobs, and from a qualitative perspective: we are talking about highly qualified technological profiles that contribute to positioning Barcelona-Catalonia as a hub for attracting international talent and give value to the local talent".

Papernest offers a centralized platform where users can centralize and simplify the management of subscriptions and contracts such as electricity, internet, insurance or mobile telephony. This means that in one single space the platform simplifies the processes of address changes, contracting or cancellation.

The new papernest offices in Barcelona, covering some 6,000 square meters in the 22@ neighborhood, consolidate the Catalan headquarters as the most relevant for the company.

The firm’s CEO and cofounder, Philippe de la Chevasnerie, declared “we set up in Barcelona in 2018 with the idea of entering the Spanish market, but today we are now serving all the markets where we operate”.

In fact, according to the CEO, “we ended up choosing Barcelona as our strategic European hub for several reasons: its technological ecosystem, the quality of life, the ability to attract talent and its international outlook”.

Furthermore, papernest has not stopped growing since its arrival in Barcelona in 2018, when it opened its headquarters with 40 workers. This figure then rose to 700, not to mention the 200 to 300 more people that will be incorporated with the opening of the new offices.

According to Chevasnerie, “Barcelona is the best option out of which to continue developing our business in Europe thanks to the quality of its startup ecosystem and the environment it offers all our workers”.

Founded in France in 2015, papernest has a total of 1,000 employees and 1.3 million customers, some 180,000 of which are in the Spanish market. The company operates in France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany.
