Danone innovates in packaging and flavours out of Catalonia

The multinational Danone is a leader in dairy products within the global food industry. It has been present in Catalonia for over 30 years through its R&D centre in Barcelona and a production plant in Parets del Vallès.

An innovative conical packaging

Danone has now chosen the Catalan plant to introduce an innovative conical packaging that will enable the company to access new markets.

This new Danone project consolidates the company's international commitment to its Catalan subsidiary, the only one in Spain specializing in the production of fresh fermented milk products. The design and development of the conical packaging will allow it to expand the introduction of Activia yogurts throughout all Europe, a line of dairy products characterised for improving the function of the digestive tract.

Thanks to this new packaging, Danone will take a great step forward in the introduction of innovative recipes that will combine flavours, cereals and seeds. The firm hopes that the conical format will attract a younger consumer to the product.

This is the first line with a conical format to be introduced in both Spain and Portugal.

With the new line of conical packaging, the Catalan plant will be significantly different from its other plants, both in Spain and in the rest of Europe. According to company sources, this major investment in machinery is highly complex and will affect the design of the Catalan plant and the packaging area.
