HP, which already has 2,500 employees in Sant Cugat (Barcelona), located the new facilities in Catalonia due to “the existence of international design talent and Barcelona´s capacity to attract it” and because the Catalan headquarters “is one of the company’s most significant worldwide”.

The US company's new centerwill provide exceptional support to its European clients and global customer base through a team with expertise in technical support, software engineering, healthcare IT, and biotechnology.

The company has invested 12 million euros and will create up to 100 highly skilled jobs to set up this 500 m² facility close to Barcelona, which will test and produce a small microchip series designed by the company over the last seven years.

The 22@ district is known for its strong ties to innovation and is home to many technology companies.

According to the Barometer of Innovation in Catalonia prepared by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the R&D activity of Catalan companies is growing and aimed at introducing new products or services to the market, implementing new business models, or applying for patents.

The company will primarily hire engineers at its headquarters in the Catalan capital, which also houses its R&D center in Southern Europe.

In 2022, 32,276 digital job offers were published in Barcelona, representing that one in four were digital.

The company chose Catalonia for its first distribution platform outside Germany, a 10,000 m² fully automated warehouse.
