
Alimentaria generates nearly €200 million for the catalan economy

Alimentaria 2012, the international food and drink fair organised by alimentaria exhibitions has left the catalan economy an estimated €170 - 200 million to the good.
alimentaria has once again turned its attention to the importance of internationalisation, as illustrated by the fact that one-third of the 142,000 visitors were from overseas, and of the 4,000 exhibitors, 32% (1,400) came from abroad. indeed, this year’s edition established a new record for the highest number of foreign professional visits with some 40,000 people arriving from 60 countries across the globe.
among the key events run alongside the fair, was the alimentaria hub – this is designed for professionals of the sector to get together to discuss and consider the latest issues, share information and forge links. this year’s hub focused on six key areas of the trade; innovation, nutrition, internationalisation, marketing, distribution and csr.
